engineering - Introduction
The
Engineering Consultancy Group within Corus Consulting provides Project
Engineering and Project management services to clients within the
iron and steel industry on a worldwide basis. The Group provides
its services across the full range of iron and steel-making processes
and over the full life cycle of a project (from feasibility through
to commissioning). Services include:
- Feasibility
studies (including technical evaluation, capital and operating
costs). Often completed in collaboration with the Business
planning Unit
- Engineering
audits (case study) of existing
utilities and services
-
Facilities Planning and Site Selection
-
Relocation of plant and equipment (case
study)
-
Basic engineering and equipment specifications
-
Tender appraisal (case study) and
support to the plant owner or steel producer in negotiation with
potential equipment supply companies
-
Assistance during manufacturing and erection with process and
engineering issues as they arise
-
Advice during commissioning and performance testing
-
Project audit
-
Technical assistance (case study)
during start-up and initial operation of the new plant. (See also
Business planning, Primary
processes, Rolling and finishing,
and Training services.)
All
of these Services are available as a whole or on an individual basis.
Corus
Consulting has no association with plant suppliers and therefore
is able to provide its clients with neutral, advisory and supervisory
services in respect of capital developments. Its natural position
is alongside the plant owner, steel producer or project sponsor
advising on process and project strategy.
The
Engineering Consultancy group operates independently or in tandem
with other groups within Corus Consulting and sometimes in collaboration
with external organisations such as management consultants and investment
banks.
Corus
Consulting has the support of and access to Corus manufacturing
plants, thus providing its customers with access to operational
training services, and operating practices and know-how (see also
Business planning, Primary
processes, Rolling and finishing,
and Training services) all of which are
necessary to achieve successful start-up of new capital equipment.
